TERRA DI NESSUNO è ambientato alla fine dell’agosto 1937, nei giorni precedenti alla Battaglia di Belchite durante la guerra civile spagnola, ma non si tratta assolutamente di un romanzo di guerra. È un avvincente romanzo d’avventura ricco di humour che ha come protagonisti Alex Riley e il suo inseparabile amico Joaquín Alcántara che, senza volerlo, si vedranno coinvolti in una temeraria missione di salvataggio proprio sotto il naso dell’esercito di Franco. L’episodio che racconto in questo libro ha avuto luogo qualche anno prima dei fatti narrati nel romanzo Capitan Riley, ed è una di quelle storie che di solito si raccontano davanti al fuoco o alla fine di una lunga notte, con un bicchiere in mano e lo sguardo perso in qualche punto lontano nella memoria.

erra di nessuno si potrebbe definire un romanzo breve, o magari un racconto lungo, che non necessita una precedente lettura di Capitan Riley per essere apprezzato.

BIOGRAPHY

Fernando Gamboa (Barcelona, Spain, 1970) has devoted most of his adult life to traveling through Africa and Latin America. He has lived in several countries and worked as a diver, Spanish teacher, entrepreneur, poker player, and adventure guide, among many other jobs.

After starting as a writer in 2007 with "The last Crypt", he has been adding bestsellers to become the Nr. 1 Spanish author in the adventure genre. The aforementioned first novel in the Ulysses Vidal series, together with the Captain Riley series, Guinea or Redemption, are proof of the success of his novels translated into English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Greek or Portuguese.

Today, Fernando Gamboa spends his time traveling the world in search of new stories and settings, as well as writing new adventure books for the millions of readers around the world who still want more.

Ho letto tutto dí Gamboa, ultimo e’ stato questo” Terra di nessuno, che avrebbe dovuto essere il primo. Io , che di solito leggo fantascienza mi sono ritrovata in un’avventura di guerra, che mai avrei immaginato mi avrebbe coinvolto tantissimo. Fernando Gamboa e questo romanzo meritano di essere conosciuti da tutti. Tra le altre cose, questo romanzo invoglia a fare ricerche storiche. Capitan Riley riesce a far sorridere anche nei momenti critici del racconto. Ne consiglio la lettura.

Presentato come un antefatto alle successive avventure di Capitan Riley, questo romanzo breve permettere all'autore di dare una sua fotografia della guerra civile spagnola, soffermandosi sulle sofferenze del poplo, che non hanno colore politico. Il tutto è gestito dall'autore senza entrare in descrizioni truculenti, ma adottando un approccio meno drammatico e focalizzando la storia sui due amici Riley e Alcantara. Due camei di personaggi storici come Hemeingway e Gellehorn completano il riuscito mix.
